A Southern National Congress will convene on October 15, 2004 in Montgomery, Alabama.

Southerners are a people currently disenfranchised and without voice.  The current political, legal, and intellectual climate prevailing in the United States of America has made an open and independent political forum for the South an imperative.  The Southern National Congress is a non-partisan, non-ideological body, existing to express the peaceful and legitimate voice of this Southern people—a distinct people, with a distinct culture, of a distinct country.

The Southern National Congress will consist of representatives from Southern community organisations and an assembly of elected delegates.

Tentative Congressional Constitution

The Southern National Congress shall consist of two bodies, a Council of Representatives speaking for various Southern community interest groups, and an Assembly of Delegates, elected from the South for the purpose of expressing the mind and resolve of the Southern people.  The Congress as a whole will speak on behalf of the Southern people.

Council of Representatives

This body shall consist of official representatives specifically invited to the Congress from various Southern community interest groups.

Assembly of Delegates

This body shall consist of delegates who register themselves, and are voted upon, by Southerners at large via this web page.  If you have interest in registering or voting, please continue.

At the first Congress, a staff will be selected to act when the Congress is out of session.
